DocuLane ("we", "our") provides AI-powered document processing tools. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the controls you have. We are committed to data minimization: we process your files to deliver a result, and we do not keep them longer than necessary.

2. What We Collect

• Account data — email address and authentication data (password hash or Google account reference) when you register or sign in.
• Documents you upload — the files you process (PDF, Word, images).
• Usage data — task history, file counts, and feature usage needed to operate the service and enforce plan limits.
• Payment data — handled entirely by our payment provider Paddle. We never see or store your card details.

3. File Retention & Deletion

Uploaded files and their outputs are automatically deleted from our servers:

• Free accounts: files are automatically deleted 30 minutes after processing.
• Pro accounts: files are automatically deleted 24 hours after processing.

These time limits are enforced automatically. We do not store your documents beyond these periods.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to:

• Process the documents you submit (conversion, compression, OCR, data extraction).
• Manage your account, plan entitlements, and billing.
• Improve reliability and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your documents to train AI models. Processing happens on our servers in the region you use.

5. Data Processing Location

Documents are processed on servers in the United States (New York). If you are located in the European Economic Area or the UK, you may contact us if you require details about international transfer safeguards.

6. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies for essential functions: keeping you signed in and remembering your session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@doculane.io.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and restricted server access to protect your data. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
